What is a Doula?
A Doula is a trained professional who provides emotional and physical support to expectant people before, during and after childbirth.
How is a Doula different from a midwife?
A Midwife is a licensed medical professional who is responsible for the medical care of the birthing person and baby. A Doula, on the other hand, provides emotional and physical support to the birthing person but is not a medical provider. Doulas are complimentary to Midwives.

It's never too early or too late to hire a Doula, but many families choose to hire one in the second trimester to ensure availability and to begin building a supportive relationship early on.
What are the benefits of having a Doula?
Having a doula provides you with continuous emotional, physical and informational support during pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period and with newborn care helping to create a more positive experience for you and your family.
